Uplevel's Meeting Classifier takes into account high-level details surrounding number of participants, meeting titles, and the duration of meetings to provide insights around which kinds of meetings take the most of your time.
A meeting between an individual and a coworker that isn't classified as another meeting type.
Out of office events are any that utilize a variety of key phrases in the meeting title, such as "OOO", "Leave", "School Dropoff," "Appointment," and more. This is used to capture brief absences such as being unavailable for an hour for an appointment, and also longer vacations that are marked on the calendar. It also automatically treats that US business holidays are Out-of-Office since these are often not explicitly marked on the calendar.
These meeting types would not be counted towards Deep Work or Always On.
This meeting type includes any team scrum events, such as standup meetings or sprint retros.
What if I'm double-booked?
Uplevel makes an educated guess about which meeting was attended. This is typically the meeting with more attendees. If a person has responded "Yes" to one meeting and "Tentative" to the other, we will count the former. Our algorithm also takes into account double-booked meetings of different durations. If the "Yes" meeting is 30 minutes and the "Tentative" meeting is 60 minutes, we will count the initial meeting, plus the second half of that next meeting.
What if I'm invited to a meeting but declined the invitation?
Declined meeting invitations are excluded from Uplevel insights.
What if I'm invited to a meeting, but respond "tentative"? What if I don't respond at all?
In most cases, Uplevel will count a "tentative" response as an attendance. In the case of office hours or a company social event, a tentative response will not be recorded as an attendance.
What if I'm on vacation?
Any meeting that occurs during an out of office period (“OOO” or “out of office” on a calendar) is excluded.
What if someone includes me as an “invitee” on their vacation event, as a reminder?
If there are multiple people listed as attendees for a vacation event, we assume the organizer is OOO, and treat it as a non-meeting for everyone else.
